Essential oils are wonderful natural remedies and can be used for so many things!
HERE ARE MY FAVORITE TOP 5 ESSENTIAL OILS TO USE FOR SKIN HEALTH
*Remember, essential oils are highly concentrated. In most cases, you will only need one or two drops at a time and per dose.
Lavender (lavandula angustifolia)
- Use topically for sunburns, scars & burns.
- Lavender has cleansing properties. Use on cuts, minor wounds and blisters to help heal. I love to use this “Owie Spray” recipe.
While lavender can be safely used neat (without dilution), I suggest to always dilute Lavender when applying topically, especially for kids. It can be a skin irritant for some people. Use your best judgment as to what’s good for you.
My favorite oil to use for dilution is this Fractionated Coconut Oil.
It is light and nourishing to the skin without clogging pores.
Frankincense (boswellia frereana)
- An incredible oil for wound healing and wrinkles, supporting skin regeneration.
- It’s my go to oil for lightening pigmentation caused by sun damage. For me, it has lightened hormonal pigmentation, known as melasma, and does the job better than most lightening products I have tried.
- Use this oil to help reduce the appearance of scars & stretchmarks.
- Apply topically along with Oregano diluted to combat warts.
- Its anti-inflammatory properties help with pain. Apply topically to assist with healing & pain management.
Myrrh (commiphora myrrha)
- Myrrh is a healing and nurturing oil and can help with fine lines. Just add a drop to your beauty oil or eye cream.
- Great for treating eczema, add to your body oil or lotion.
- Myrrh contains anti-infectious properties and can help aid in healing wounds.
Melaleuca (melaleuca alternifolia)
- Studies show that melaleuca is beneficial for treating fungal and bacterial issues (R). I have used this oil with great success for treating skin candida rash.
- Its antiseptic properties make it a great oil to add to a homemade “Owie Spray”.
- A great oil to use topically for hives or rashes.
- Melaleuca’s antibacterial and antiseptic properties make it a great natural treatment for acne. Add a drop to your cleanser or moisturizer or dab on topically as a spot treatment.
Helichrysum (helichrysum italicum)
Dilute if using on the face
- This oil is wonderful for wrinkles and stretch marks. Mix with Myrrh in a fractionated coconut oil base (or oil of your choice) and rub topically onto wrinkles and stretchmarks.
- Another great oil for scars and wounds.
- Helichrysum is beneficial for psoriasis and skin conditions. Blend with lavender and apply topically over the areas of concern.
- Apply topically, massaging gently, to help with varicose veins.
Essential oils are gentle and effective if used in small quantities frequently. If you are using essential oils to help with things like stretch marks or wrinkles, applying them consistently is the key.
These 5 oils are generally safe to use for straight application, however, it’s always a good idea to test for any reactions by using a small amount of any essential oil on a patch of skin before applying it elsewhere. Essential oils may need to be diluted before applying topically, depending on the person and use.

How much of helichrysum, myrrh and carrier oil should I use for varicose veins
Typical dilution for adults is 3-6 drops per oil to 1 teaspoon of carrier oil. 🙂
